Mangold International Supports the Development of the Operating Room of the 21st Century
It takes creative mind, lots of courage to try-out new approaches and state-of-the art technology to develop the solutions of the 21st century. Nothing less applies to the latest endeavor at the University Medical Centre in Tuebingen, Germany.
Researchers and experts from the medical, engineering and usability field, have taken on the challenge to minimize sources for man-machine-errors in operating rooms. With support from industry and external services the University is currently setting up a lab that is in all actuality a 1:1 simulation of a real operating room.
By doing so experts from interdisciplinary backgrounds are analyzing and reshaping traditional operating rooms into the operating room of the 21st century. And here is where Mangold technology plays such a fundamental role: We are proud to see that INTERACT was the software tool of choice selected to get the most out of the analysis – to bring out those revolutionary changes the operating rooms are about to experience.
Von der Mosel (1971) and Bleyer (1992) reported that two thirds of technical errors are caused by problems in the interaction between machine and user and not by technical defects. It is estimated that in Germany alone additional annual costs of 396 million Euros are required for treatment of complications arising from intensive care unit equipment of questionable usability.
The problem is an international phenomenon: ergonomic aspects in the OR did not receive adequate consideration. One reason may be that until recently it was not necessary to optimize the “business”. Medical progress during the last 100 years has been without equal. Up until a few years ago, healthcare systems were adequately financed and there was enough medical and nursing staff to compensate for shortages and deficiencies in the workplace. Increasing complexity of the workplace, however, makes it impossible to continue to do so.
Mangold technology amongst solutions from other technology partners will support the architects, domestic appliance and medical technicians at the Medical University Centre in Tuebingen, that have met with top-ranking producers of medical equipment, along with university physicians, to design the integrated OR of the future – that guarantess greatly improved conditions for surgeons and bottom line: Save lives.

Meet Pascal Mangold at the 2007 SRCD event in Boston, Massachusetts
Within the areas of expertise, Mangold International is probably best suited to meet the needs of researchers that gather at this years SRCD event in Boston Massachusetts. The SRCD stands for Society of Research in Child Development and is a multidisciplinary, not-for-profit, professional association with a membership of approximately 5,500 researchers, practitioners, and human development professionals from over 50 countries.
The purpose of the Society which gathers from 27, March thru 1 April at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston is to promote multidisciplinary research in the field of human development, to foster the exchange of information among scientists and other professionals of various disciplines, and to encourage applications of research findings.
At this years event Mangold International will be there with a booth and multiple new announcements to be made: That’s why the Managing Director of Mangold International himself will be there to meet and greet our users and friends at the Mangold Booth and in a separate hospitality event. Stop by and pick up your invitation and chat with the founder of Mangold International and the creator of INTERACT. We look forward to see all our present and future friends!

Mangold on Tour Worldwide
Events in March 2007...
It takes more than state-of-the art technology solutions to be a good partner for researchers and practitioners in our field: It takes an ear for their needs and changing demands! And this what makes us come to events worldwide. And our 2007 event calender will take us to quite a few of them in the next weeks.
We start by joining the so-called DGKJP congress ( German Society for Child- und Juvenile Psychiatry, Psychosomatics and Psychotherapy ) which takes place at the Rheinisch-Westfälische- Technische Hochschule in Aachen, Germany. We are there amongst many friends of Mangold solutions, with INTERACT being the tool of choice of great many of the attending researchers – and we count on meeting with them, and exchanging views and opinions, so please stop by at your booth.
End of march we will be simultaneously at two key events in the USA and Europe: One of our exhibits will be at the Neuroscience event that takes place from March 27 thru 1. April at Goettingen, Germany. There you see us in action with a combined team of Mangold International and our neuroscience partner View Point LifeSciences: And we sure hope to see you there as well !
About 6000 miles away we will meet the elite of researchers from the Society for Research in Child Development (SRCD) at their biennial conferences at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, Massachusetts from 27 March to 1 April. Pascal Mangold, the Managing Director of Mangold himself, will be there to inform the scientists about the new INTERACT 8, more new developments and meet with them at a Hospitality Event. Come and see us at our booth to learn more about the when and where. More information here... |

Add external sensor data into your analysis work
Example of use...
Adding external sensor data to your video coding analysis is more then ever used to gain comprehensive research results: Using INTERACT and DataView in combination makes it easy and efficient !
A current example : José Luis Postigo Sánchez from the University of Málaga in Spain works currently on a project with the German Federal Research Institute for Agriculture (FAL) in Braunschweig, Germany which uses heart rate data in the analysis of cow behavior.
This is one of many possible scenarios for external sensor data that can be included ( such as physiological data, simulator drawn data, eye tracking data ) in multiple research areas ( such as animal behavior, psychology, usability, neuroscience ). If you can think it, we can do it!
More about the research example listed with the German Federal Research Institute and Jose Luis Poastigo Sanchez under........
