Mangold on tour...

Your Chance to "Meet and Greet" - Mangold International at Events in November...

After last years very successful participation in the 1st Usability Symposium, which was organized by the Austrian Computer Society, Mangold International did not want to miss out on this years 2nd Usability Symposium held in Vienna, Austria on 23. November 2006. he event which focused this year on e-learning, drew a very interesting crowd of researchers and practitioners and proved the point that the organizing team around Prof. Dr. Andreas Holzinger from the Austria Computer Society was again right on target with this years subject.

Another key event in our November schedule was the annual conference on "Applied Ethology", which is tales place annually in Freiburg, Germany. The event was as ni preceding years a fabulous opportunity to meet with various customers of Mangold Itnernational from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. We look forward to be back next year...

As a short outlook to our December event plan, we are pleased to announce our participation as a exhibitor at the 10. Conference of the Society of Primatology, which takes place from 7 thru 8th December in the city of Leipzig, Germany. An interesting event which offers us the opportunity to meet the many users and friends of Mangold International in the sector. If you are at the event please stop by at our booth.

Development

What you always wanted to know about...

... video coding (but were afraid to ask), can be learned during the 'lecture tour' of Mangold International GmbH. In september we spoke at no less than three conferences:

At the Mensch und Computer 2006 in Gelsenkirchen, in Nürnberg at the DGPs Conference and at the ESFR Congress in Darmstadt, the topic was The fast lane to better results: Software based audio- and video analysis in research projects. Many interested attentants could inform themselves about software solutions and lab equipment of Mangold International.

The enormous positive response has encouraged us to continue with giving lectures and demonstrations at various events. We would love you to come and meet us as an attendant at any of those presentations. We will inform you in due time about upcoming events through this newsletter.

We would also willingly accept an invitation to lecture at your event! We will be pleased to take your call.

Our Service

Customer satisfaction...

...  is our highest priority! That's why at Mangold International every user request is treated seriously. In regard to our fast and continuously growing customer base world wide, we well-staffed our suport department. This allows us to respond in quality and time as known from the past.

The extremely positive statements of our user base confirm that the motto of this article is not just a phrase! Professor Tamis-LeMonda of New York University backs up our claim that neither place nor time is of any relevance for our support:

"We have been using Mangold software for over a year now to code videotaped interactions of parents and infants. The software is flexible, user friendly and rich in its capabilities. But, more importantly, the support staff at Mangold is unparalleled. We call at all hours of the day and night and responses to our inquiries are immediate and extremely helpful. Pascal Mangold is open to feedback and quick to modify the software in increasingly better ways in response to public needs. I am delighted in our choice to use Mangold!"

Do you have a support request? Our support team is always glad to help, either by phone +49 (0)8723 978 330 or by email support@mangold-international.com.

Insights

Turns as basic patterns of the dialogue in the parent-child-dyad...

The purpose of this still running study at the University of Education in Heidelberg, Germany, is the documentation of the development of turn-taking in the parent-child dialogue with normally developing infants and infants who are disabled.

The theoretical basis is anchored in the theory of early dialogues between parents and child and the theory of language acquisition.

The questions posed in this study relate to the development of turn-taking (e.g.):

  • what signals do parents/infants send
  • how do parents/infants respond
  • when do parents/infants refuse to respond
  • which differences can be found with the groups
  • is there a D.A.D. (Dialogic Acquisition Device)?

The first results focus the vocalisation and dialogic echo.

For the analyis of video, INTERACT including the add-on modules Sequence Analysis and Highlight Movie Creator are used in this study.

The poster, that was presented during the ICIS in Kyoto by Ms Professor Horsch, can be found here.
